Whale Skeleton Articulation
Articulating the Giants of the Deep
Through meticulous articulation of their skeletons, deceased marine mammals find a second life as ambassadors of the sea, telling stories that illuminate marine life, evolution, and the complex interplay between humans and our oceans. Hands-on articulation can be a life-changing experience for interns, many of whom go on to pursue successful scientific careers. Assembling the world’s largest orca whale skeleton in 2017 was a defining moment for the Noyo Center. Today, this magnificent specimen inspires thousands of visitors every year at our Discovery Center Science Museum in downtown Fort Bragg.
